લેપ વિન્ડિંગમાં, આર્મેચર કોઇલ એવી રીતે જોડાયેલા હોય છે કે તેઓ એકબીજાને ઓવરલેપ કરે છે. આનો અર્થ એ છે કે એક કોઇલનો પ્રારંભિક છેડો બીજી કોઇલના અંતિમ અંત સાથે જોડાયેલ છે. બીજા શબ્દોમાં કહીએ તો, એક કોઇલનો પહેલો છેડો કોમ્યુટેટર સેગમેન્ટ સાથે જોડાયેલો હોય છે, અને આગલી કોઇલનો પ્રારંભિક છેડો એ જ ચુંબક હેઠળ મુકવામાં આવે છે પરંતુ એક અલગ ધ્રુવ અને પછી તે જ કોમ્યુટેટર સેગમેન્ટ સાથે જોડાયેલ હોય છે.

लैप वाइंडिंग में, आर्मेचर कॉइल इस तरह से जुड़े होते हैं कि वे एक दूसरे को ओवरलैप करते हैं। इसका मतलब यह है कि एक कॉइल का शुरुआती सिरा दूसरे कॉइल के फिनिशिंग सिरे से जुड़ा होता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, एक कॉइल का पहला सिरा कम्यूटेटर सेगमेंट से जुड़ा होता है, और अगले कॉइल का शुरुआती सिरा एक ही चुंबक लेकिन एक अलग पोल के नीचे रखा जाता है और फिर उसी कम्यूटेटर सेगमेंट से जुड़ा होता है।

In lap winding, the armature coils are connected in a way that they overlap each other. This means that the starting end of one coil is connected to the finishing end of the other coil. In other words, the first end of one coil is connected to the commutator segment, and the starting end of the next coil is placed under the same magnet but a different pole and then connected to the same commutator segment.
