 પરંપરાગત સંરક્ષણ સાધનો દ્વારા ખામીઓ શોધવાનું મુશ્કેલ છે, જે સમય જતાં પાવર કેબલમાં ઇન્સ્યુલેશન ડિગ્રેડેશન અને કાયમી ખામી તરફ દોરી જાય છે. પ્રારંભિક ખામી એ આંતરિક ખામીઓ છે જે કોઈ તાત્કાલિક જોખમ નથી. પરંતુ તે આ ખામીઓ અવગણવામાં આવે છે અને કાળજી લેવામાં આવતી નથી; આ મોટી ખામીઓ તરફ દોરી શકે છે. આ ખામીઓ શરૂઆતમાં નાના ખામીઓ છે, પરંતુ તે પાવર સિસ્ટમને ગંભીર નુકસાનમાં પરિણમે છે. આવી ખામીઓ ધીમે ધીમે સાધનને નુકસાન પહોંચાડે છે. આ ખામીઓમાં પાથ ચલાવવામાં, સ્પાર્કિંગ, નાના આર્સિંગ વગેરેમાં છૂટક જોડાણોનો સમાવેશ થાય છે અને તે મોટા ખામીઓમાં વિકસે છે.

प्रारंभिक दोष मुख्य रूप से भूमिगत विद्युत केबलों के जंक्शनों पर होने वाले दोषों के रूप में जाने जाते हैं। जल्दी से समाशोधन, ये

 पारंपरिक सुरक्षा उपकरण द्वारा दोषों का पता लगाना मुश्किल होता है, जिससे समय के साथ बिजली केबल में इन्सुलेशन गिरावट और स्थायी खराबी होती है। प्रारंभिक दोष आंतरिक दोष हैं जो तत्काल खतरे का गठन नहीं करते हैं। लेकिन इन दोषों को नज़रअंदाज़ कर दिया जाता है और उन पर ध्यान नहीं दिया जाता; इससे बड़े दोष हो सकते हैं। ये दोष शुरू में मामूली दोष होते हैं, लेकिन इनसे बिजली व्यवस्था को गंभीर नुकसान होता है। ऐसे दोष उपकरण को धीरे-धीरे नुकसान पहुंचाते हैं। इन दोषों में पथ के संचालन में ढीले कनेक्शन, स्पार्किंग, छोटे चाप आदि शामिल हैं और प्रमुख दोषों में विकसित होते हैं।

 faults are difficult to detect by conventional protection equipment, leading to insulation degradation and permanent fault in the power cable over time. Incipient faults are internal faults that constitute no immediate hazard. But it these faults are overlooked and not taken care of; these may lead to major faults. These faults are initially minor Faults, but they result in serious damage to the power system. Such faults damage the equipment gradually. These faults include loose connections in conducting paths, sparking, small arcing, etc. and grow into major faults.

It occurs regularly during the operation of a transformer.

Causes of frequent fault

• Aging of insulation
• Overloading
• Poor maintenance

Frequent faults are generally less severe than infrequent fault but they can still lead to a reduction

the transformer's life span.

          2.  Infrequent fault

It occurs rarely or sporadically during the operation of a transformer.

Causes of Infrequent fault

• Short circuit
• Lightning strikes

Infrequent faults are generally more severe than frequent faults and can lead to significant damage or failure.
